Homework

Homework

Here at Hadleigh, we believe that homework should be used to provide the children with a chance to consolidate the skills and understanding they have learnt in class.

It is the school's expectation that the children (in Reception to Year 2) read three times a week. This should be recorded in the child's reading log. The children will be able to win certificates, throughout the year, as they record their reading sessions.

The children in Reception to Year 2 will also be provided with a homework booklet(s) which will need to be completed on a weekly basis. The tasks vary between year groups as does the amount the children are expected to complete.

Reception  -  Phonics Activity

Year 1 - Maths and English Activities

Year 2 - Maths, GPS and Reading Comprehension Activities

Homework tasks should not take longer than 10 minutes to complete. Teachers encourage parents to stop any task after ten minutes.

As stated previously, these tasks are designed to support your child in their learning. If you have any concerns about your child's homework, please ask to meet with your child's teacher.

During the holidays, the school provide children with a list of fun family related activities for them to choose from and complete. An example of this homework can be found below.
